Chapter 12

"Luna must feel so lost without her family." Leigh glanced up from her magazine at Shia's statement ready to say something smart, but then she saw Remi shaking her head warning her to keep quiet, so Leigh went back to reading her magazine opting not to say anything.

"I'm sure she does, Shy." Remi appeased her older sister because she knew that if she didn't Shia and Leigh would be at each other's throats again today and for the sake of the five children that remained, they needed some sort of peace.

Shia glanced over at Remi and smiled. Remi had really stepped it up. Her baby sister was a grown woman now and she appreciated that.

"Look what I found." Remi announced, holding up an old photo album. Shia's eyes lit up, while Leigh's gaze never deterred away from the magazine that she was reading.

"Oh, I want to see." Shia said as she stood to her feet and came to sit on the floor next to Remi. "Come on Leigh, come look. Where did you find this, Rem?"

Leigh sighed as she pushed her magazine aside. The two of them wanted to do some whole sister-bonding thing; she could see it in Remi's pleading expression. If she didn't want to strangle Shia and crush every bone in her body, she would be bent over laughing from Remi's facials. Leigh came to sit on the floor next to her sisters. She wasn't interested in going down memory lane. She liked her youth exactly where it was, in the past.

Once Leigh had taken a seat on the carpet with Shia and Remi, Remi gladly opened the album, coughing as a puff of dust reached out and attacked her nose.

"Achew." Remi sniffled.

"See, the album is even resisting." Leigh stated, "It doesn't want to be bothered either."

"Look at you two when you were babies." Remi exclaimed ignoring Leigh and her bad attitude.

"Haven't you seen this album before?" Leigh asked unfazed

"No. This is a difference. Not sure how I missed this one. It was in the few things that remained of Mommy and Daddy's" Shia responded.

"Oh." Leigh replied, shooting Shia a look.

Shia shrugged in response to Leigh's look and diverted her attention back to the album Remi was holding.

"You guys were so adorable. I wonder what happened." She giggled.

"We turned sexy." Shia shot back laughing, "You can't be sexy and adorable. We are the one that's more age appropriate."

"Lies you tell." Remi said. "I'm adorable and sexy. You better get your facts right." She laughed.

"You two are silly." Leigh smiled.

"Who is this woman standing next to Mommy?" Remi asked, pointing at a photograph that had the twins in separate strollers and a pretty woman standing in between them smiling.

Leigh looked at the picture and any trace of the smile she had just carried was gone. Shia glanced at Leigh then back at Remi, who was waiting for an answer and made the decision to tell her the truth.

"Our mother." Shia answered.

"No, I see mommy, I'm talking about the other lady.
